For those of you who don’t know, water in an aquaponics system is recycled, meaning that it uses between 5 and 10 percent of the water of traditional farming. Because water is recycled, though, the solids from the fish waste needs to be filtered out. Until recently, we were just going to dump the waste wherever we could find.
We found out that this stuff is like miracle grow on steroids! No joke, when we put this on plants they grow like crazy! We’ve decided to bottle it and sell or donate it where we can. This wasn’t something we had thought much about when we first started, but it’s definitely a nice little added bonus of what we’re doing! 🙂
